9:15 AM – MORNING MARKET UPDATE & WATCH LIST
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his morning, U.S. stocks are set to open higher on continued optimism about trade and Brexit. Markets in Europe gained in early trading as the rally in UK assets extended to a second day. Stocks in Asia were mixed.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“Have the end in mind and every day make sure you’re working towards it.”
– Ryan Allis
As was the case the previous week, this past week the market started off the week quiet then rallied in the latter half to post more historic highs.
There was lots of good cheer for the market this week. First, the Fed and ECB both pledged to do what they could to underpin their respective economies. Second, the UK gave Boris Johnson a landslide victory, virtually guaranteeing that the Brexit saga will come to an end. Then on Friday, President Trump announced that a phase-one deal with China had been completed.
The Dow Jones ended another bullish week with a net +120 point gain or +0.43% to close at 28135. This was below the new record intra-day high of 28,289 which the index set Friday morning.
Since plunging to near its 50-day moving average on 12/3, the blue-chips have gotten into a short-term uptrend with only 2 down days over the past 8 sessions.
