9:00 AM – MORNING MARKET UPDATE & WATCH LIST

Although last week was a holiday week, that didn’t stop the major averages from their pursuit of new highs. The Dow Jones, the Nasdaq, and the S&P 500 made new all-time highs on Wednesday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime.”
– Adlai Stevenson II

The impressive market action which we had seen throughout June continued for the first week of July.

The major indices opened Monday with a gap up, after U.S. and China agreed to pause their tariff war.

The market closed early on Wednesday for the Independence Day holiday.

Trading resumed Friday morning with a move lower as the better-than-expected June jobs report was released and curbed investors expectations for multiple rate cuts this year.

Still, the Dow gained 322 points on the week, advancing the first week of July another +1.2%. The blue-chips closed Friday at 26922, less than 80 points from the 27K milestone.

The June 2019 rally-run which, for us, started with the breakout of AWI (+11.5%) on the morning on June 3rd, continued.
