THU 12/12: Futures Lower This Morning – 2 New BreakOut Alerts Wednesday

– James F. Taulman, former Editor-in-Chief of the first independently licensed website to offer stock reports and services based on the CAN SLIM® investment system.

8:30 AM – MORNING MARKET UPDATE & WATCH LIST

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n Wednesday, the major averages continued to trade in somewhat tame fashion. The Dow rose +30 points, the Nasdaq climbed +38 points, and the broader S&P 500 advanced just +9 points.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

“I tried 99 times and failed, but on the hundredth attempt, I got it. Never give up on your goals even though they seem impossible, the next attempt may be victorious.”
– Albert Einstein

Yesterday, the Federal Reserve said it would keep interest rates steady, halting a series of cuts that lifted markets and countered recession fears amid ongoing trade uncertainty. Thirteen of the 17 participants on the FOMC’s policy-setting body now anticipate keeping interest rates level in 2020.

This morning, U.S. stock futures are mixed. Markets in Europe broadly gained in early trading, while stocks in Asia were undecided.

The ECB’s new president, Christine Lagarde, will preside over her first policy decision today, followed by a highly-anticipated press conference.

For earnings – Adobe, Broadcom, Oracle, and our Costco are scheduled to report their results after the bell.
